This piece of artwork was inspired by a song called "Down with the sickness" by the band "Disturbed". Specifically the first verse always caught my attention because it reminded me so much of a time in my life where my temper was out of control. In those days it felt like something had control of me, something not human. I have tried to describe many times how I felt to friends and family, but no-one said it better than Disturbed and their lyrics in "Down with the sickness".

Whenever I listened to that song, I had an image in my head, that many times over I have promised to draw but have never gotten around to doing it. After seeing the competition last friday on your website, I went home, put the song on full blast and started drawing. I finished yesterday (Sunday) evening after only having 4 or 5 hours sleep the entire weekend. I wanted to say thanks to you guys (DeviantART), because it was not only the song that inspired me to draw this picture but the competition that made me do it.

Here is the first verse of the song which inspired me the most:

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
Broken your servant I kneel
It seems what's left of my human side
Is slowly changing in me

Looking at my own reflection
When suddenly it changes
Violently it changes
There is no turning back now
You've woken up the demon in me

Now THAT is one cool piece. Ain't nothing like seeign the results of someone's work when it is inspired by a song, lyric, movie or something else out there :nod: It's always an experience to see what someone's mind and talent can conjure up at times, because everyone will always have somethign different.

i absoultely adore your drawing but most of all i love the meaning behind it. I read your describtion and i can totally relate to how just blasting music just does marvelous things to creativity flow. i've heard the song you were talking about and the fire in the background really sets the mood of that song. and the chains attached to the mirrir is something different that you normally dont see in mirrir images.
